The Tigers Hockey Academy is the talent pathway for Tasmania’s junior hockey players into the Tassie Tigers program.
The Academy has historically been delivered by Hockey Tasmania. In 2025 the program will be delivered by the Tasmanian Institute of Sport (TIS) in partnership with Hockey Tasmania.
The Academy delivers specialist training for boys and girls in the under 14, under 16 and under 18 age groups to improve their skills and prepare them for elite competition as well as provide coach development opportunities for academy and state coaches.
The program is structured to ensure the consistent and high-quality development with the ultimate goal of supporting the senior men’s and women’s programs – the Tassie Tigers.
It will be delivered in three structured blocks throughout the year in the north west, north and south of Tasmania.
A spot in the Academy is by invitation only. There are two pathways:
- 2024 State selection including train ons.
- Nomination from clubs in consultation with the TIS.
