Ariarne relocated from Tasmania to Queensland in 2015 to further her swimming career.

Ariarne made her international long course debut at the 2017 World Championships where she claimed bronze in the Women’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay and placed fourth in the 400m Freestyle.

The following year aged just 18, Ariarne broke the world 400m Freestyle record at the World Short Course Championships. Ariarne set three new Commonwealth Records and a World Record at the 2019 World Championships.

Ariarne made her Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Games, where she won two gold medals in the 400m Freestyle and the 4x200m Freestyle Relay, a silver in the 200m Freestyle and a bronze in the 800m Freestyle.

In Birmingham at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Ariarne had a clean sweep, winning four gold medals in the 200m, 400m, 800m and 4x200m Freestyle relay.

At the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, Ariarne reclaimed the World Record for the 400m Freestyle in 3:56.40, a record she still holds today.

Ariarne booked her ticket to Paris at the Australian Olympic Swimming Trials, narrowly missing breaking her own 400m record by just 0.06 seconds.
